In the Beginning...
Today is Day One of my work as 100 percent mission developer for Light of the World.
I have moved all my stuff out of my office at Shepherd of the Valley and just finished
setting up the files in the new World headquarters of Light of the World...at my home.
It goes against every fiber of my being to stay inside today to do administrative stuff.
All my instincts tell me I should be spending my time meeting with people and being out
in the community. But I have been an organizational maniac today!
This new beginning reminds me of another beginning. The book of Genesis starts out, "In
the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void
and darkness covered the face of the deep...then God said, 'Let there be light!'"
Out of chaos, God created order. Our creator separated night from day...water from land...
well, you get the idea. From nothing, God created something.
I think that's what God is doing with us. Out of nothing, God is creating something. And,
I guess, there's nothing wrong with taking a little time to create order out of chaos--
in other words, administrative stuff. But I can't do this for very long. So, on Thursday
this week, Sept. 6, I'll be at the Ugly Mug coffee shop on Pilot Knob in Farmington from
10a.m. to noon...maybe I'll even stay for lunch. (Really good sandwiches.) Come and
visit with me. Let's create something!
